FundsXML is an open and free of charge file format for the exchange of mutual fund information. The FundsXML file format is managed by the FundsXML.org organisation with the aim to establish this file format as a standard.

FundsXML is an application of XML, a common internet standard for data description enabling users to exchange data between different computer applications.

The organisation FundsXML.org pursues the following aims:

• Creating and establishing a standard for the fund industry for the exchange of fund and asset management company data (domestic and foreign investment and asset management companies)
• Acceptance by domestic and international business partners
• Coordination with similar international standards
• Flexible and low cost organisation
• Protection of the IT systems based on the standard (copyright)
• Being open for third party users to contribute to further developments of the standard
• Licensing to protect the individual developments

The work on and contribution to FundsXML are regulated by the FundsXML Standards Committee (FSC) and the FundsXML Charta.
